It all started in Scotland

Many people, when asked what Scotland is famous for, answer: whiskey, bagpipes or kilts. But in fact, Scotland is primarily famous for its incredible nature, hills and lakes.

During one of his travels around the country, at that date director of marketing, Joel Turner thought it would be great to come up with walking shoes in which you can cross the country far and wide without getting tired or straining.

 

Of course, at that time there were a huge number of shoe brands who professionally produced comfortable outdoor shoes for an active life. But this shoe had two, from Joel’s point of view, disadvantages: high price and a rather ordinary design.

 

As a very creative person, Joel decided not to put the idea on the back burner and shared his idea with partners.

 

They decided to start with the brand name. After all, as everyone knows, what you call a boat, so it will float.

About our name

There were a large number of options, and all of them were built from “movement”, “walking”, “cross – country”, etc.


Finally, someone suggested, let’s call it CROSBY. The name will link Scotland, with its kilt’s crosses and cross-country movement. In addition, CROSBY is also a famous surname in the country, and if you believe the legend, there was once a small factory in Scotland which produced shoes for travel, and its owner was called Crosby.


Everything coincided. One way or another, everyone liked the name and its sound in all languages is reproduced very beautifully.

Friends took up the design of the shoes themselves. They wanted something fashionable, but at the same time in a sporty style, the so-called “athlesure”.

 

The first few collections were created with the very famous Italian fashion designer Claudio Goretti. He set the direction for the further development of the brand, which was quickly taken up by designers from Korea, who have years of experience in developing sports shoes.

 

Claudio also proposed an injection molded method of attaching the sole to the upper to improve hygroscopic properties and reduce cost. Due to this, Joel’s second goal was achieved to make shoes affordable for the traveler of any income.

 

In addition to its outdoor footwear collections, the Scottish brand CROSBY is known as one of the most popular brands of gym shoes, and in some countries, school sports teams use CROSBY shoes for training and physical education lessons.
